"Topless Academy's Guide to Bartending" An instructional video on DVD or VHS that teaches how to bartend or mix drinks. First and foremost, the video is instructional. While it is funny, and filled with gorgeous topless girls, it teaches the viewer everything he needs to know to tend bar. Setting up: We show you how to stock your bar, the glassware and liquor you'll need, and how to cut fruit for garnishes. Mixology: Besides teaching how to serve wine, beer and champagne, we'll also instruct you in mixology, the skill of preparing cocktails. Topless Academy Background Issue: Topless Academy announces the launching of their instructional video series with the release of their first production teaching how to bartend. Historical Overview: Topless Academy is the creation of two bartenders, Dave Horowitz and George Hobbs. As aspiring filmmakers, they were talking one night in 2002, trying to find how they could combine their passions and skills to get out from behind the bar. They wanted to make a film, and they knew how to tend bar, but shooting an instructional video would be expensive. Since they would be financing the project themselves, how could they insure that they would make their money back? Then it hit them, Horowitz would direct and Hobbs would be on camera teaching topless female students the art of bartending. They began pre-production: writing the script, preparing shot-lists, securing locations and crew, and the arduous task of conducting auditions. "We'd have the girls come in, remove their tops, and teach us how to pour a beer, so we could get a sense of their personalities," says Horowitz. "Then we'd have them shake a martini," adds Hobbs, "so we could see how they move." Implications: While celebrating the success of their first release, Dave and George are preparing for their next two projects, guides to cooking and auto repair and maintenance. Much like the books written "for dummies," they hope that their instructional video series will make learning fun and easy for adults. Biographies: David Horowitz, Founder and CEO, graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Japanese, which he speaks fluently. He came to California to direct commercials. Dave lives in Los Angeles with his boa constrictor, Malone. George Hobbs, Founder and President, graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Advertising.
